Introducing Project K: The League of Legends Trading Card Game

Main Post: Introducing Project K: The League of Legends Trading Card Game

Top Comment: Unless it's an LCG format, I'm not interested. TCGs are predatory money suckers. It's straight up gambling and it almost always ends up impacting the game/card design in the long-run.

I'd say a used rx 580 or gtx 1070.

Or if you want high/ultra settings, an rx 6600, 6600 xt, or rtx 3060.

Integrated Graphics or Video Card for Lol?

Main Post:

I've been playing League of Legends and I have a FPS problem I guess. When I open the game with integrated graphics processor I get 90-100 fps but in lane phase it becomes 40-50 and in teamfights it becomes 20-30. When I open the game with my video card (Nvidia GeForce 610m) I get 40-50 fps normally and 20-30 in team fights. Is there a difference between these two? Is a video card supposed to be better?

what processor do you have? Upgrading your card will help a lot, league isn't very graphic intensive, but if you have a really shit processor you'll bottleneck because of it.

The new League of Legends TCG looks odd, so I gave it a quick redesign.

Main Post:

I think the Project K Team should take note of what worked in other TCGs. When I saw the reveal video, I noticed some odd design choices for the Champion cards and sat down for an hour to make a quick redesign.

Problems I see:

  1. The Focus of the original design is not on the Artwork. This is a TCG. First and foremost, the Artwork should be front and center, for the people that just want to collect these cards. The original design takes a neat artwork that works in a 16:9 format and crams it into a rather small space. This can work (See Yugioh / Pokemon / Magic), but in each of these cases: The artwork is unobstructed, which is not the case in this old design.
  2. The Symbols do not share a unified design language. This is especially noticeable with the Power symbol at the top right and the symbol on the left. One has a solid background, the other does not, one has a colored outline, the other does not.
  3. The Textbox. This is a pitfall that Yugioh also fell into. Taking a large textbox, filling it with only a few lines and leaving the rest as an empty void (See Pot of Greed).
  4. White Borders. This is a personal gripe, but White should be used as an aid for readability, not as a key design colour. The white border specifically was used in other TCGs (Magic for example) but was quickly replaced for various reasons. However, even with MTG, the white borders were contrasted by the individual color language of the cards. Not a White-on-White design as seen here.

So, the changes I made were:
- Extended the Artwork similar to the Volibear "Relentless Storm" card seen in the video. The reason is: This is a character card. A champion. These are the type of cards that will be collected the most, so the Artwork should take up most of the card, while leaving room for the Stats, similar to what the One Piece TCG does.
- I gave the symbols a quick overhaul to unify the design: Primarily transparent symbols with an outline in the color of the respective card (Purple for Jinx/Zaun)
- I made the Textbox transparent (20% Opacity) and centered the Text vertically. Also added a white outline to let the text remain as readable as before. This is what they did with the Ability Cards, so I found it rather odd that this was not done for the Champions. [Also: I would suggest Riot takes the MTG route and adds flavour text for cards that have a really short text.]
- Finally: I changed the border color, just as a personal preference.

EDIT: In response to feedback from the comments I changed a few elements.
- Changed the power display back to white to make it more readable on a glance. (Teiwazz)
- Vectorized the text and added an outline because the compression artifacts from the video made it a bit hard to read. (muzlee01)

Top Comment: There's a newly released images based on Arcane. Though it's not yet in English based on what I've seen.

So funny that he's clearly calling in for financial advice and they keep going moral high ground on him lol.
